Fun pieces. By popular request some cute new shapes have been added to the jigsaw pieces. The new shapes work seamlessly with all your existing as well as new jigsaws. The 22 new shapes include a teddy bear, bunny, tractor, train, kitten, caboose, T-shirt, fish, football helmet, bird, toy duck, butterfly, pig, daisy, dogwood flower, flying bat, terrier, gingerbread boy, poinsettia, turtle, farmer and a head. To see all the new shapes close-up, select the Options/ Advanced/ Fun pieces menu. By default all the new shapes are selected here for use when opening a jigsaw but can be individually selected to suit your personal taste. The jigsaw preview screen has a new drop down box to choose how many fun pieces you want when you open a jigsaw. The choices are None, Sparse, Medium, Dense or All. The default is set to Sparse so you will see a few each time you open a jigsaw. You can change the percentage of fun pieces while playing, by clicking the Piece size and shape button. The more adventurous players might like to try their hand at designing their own fun pieces.·
Undo mistakes. An undo/redo command has been added to the Tools menu. Some users have been known to accidentally arrange or disarrange pieces by mistake so now they can just click the Undo command in the Tools menu to recover. The undo depth is set at 10 which is enough to recover 10 mistakes in a row. Now you can recover blunders ranging from a single piece, to whole groups of pieces or trays, right up to accidentally auto-solving the entire jigsaw. A matching redo is included to cancel each undo command, if needed. The status line helpfully describes what the undo/redo command would do if selected.·
Mystery Mode. A Mystery Mode option has been added to the options menu together with a little button to the right of the tabs in the jigsaw preview screen. Press this button to enter Mystery Mode. Now the preview images of the jigsaws are hidden from view in this screen. And when you open a jigsaw the ghost background image, overlay picture and zoom picture features are unavailable. This has been added for players who would like no help at all when solving a jigsaw and presents an additional challenge. The Mystery Mode feature is also available when creating a gift jigsaw, to prevent the image being displayed. The Mystery Mode can, however, be overridden during play if you really get stuck.·
Gift jigsaws. The Gift jigsaws have been updated to include the following features from the main game: Background Ghost image, Magnifying Loupe window, Fun pieces, Trays, Undo/Redo tool, Mystery Mode and Background Skins.·
Screensaver. The screensaver now randomly adds new fun pieces to the jigsaws it shows. Select the Tools/Screensaver menu to get this new feature.·
Jigsaw preview screen. Enhancements have been made to the jigsaw preview screen. You can now choose your favorite piece style (Classic, Stars, Bubbles etc) from a drop down box after which all jigsaws will open in that style. This is mainly for customers who just like the traditional (Classic) style pieces. The choices also include Surprise! in which case a piece style is chosen at random, and Default which uses whatever style was originally chosen by the jigsaw's creator. An asterisk is now shown on a jigsaw's tab to indicate that the jigsaw has been started. You can now also double-click a tab to open it or right-click a jigsaw tab to open or resume the jigsaw. A new progress bar has been added in the Resume a jigsaw display to show the percentage of the jigsaw completed.·
Opening jigsaws. Some users like to start the game by double-clicking a jigsaw file in My Computer, rather than by starting the game itself first and then opening a jigsaw in the preview screen. That meant they missed the preview screen and so missed the ability to change options before the jigsaw opened. Now, when double-clicking a jigsaw file, the preview screen will come up showing that jigsaw. Click the Open button to open it. Note: The preview screen can be disabled from popping up in the Options/ Advanced/ Environment menu. If the preview screen is disabled the jigsaw will be loaded immediately with its default parameters, as before.·
Trays. Right-clicking a tray pops up a menu to which a new feature has been added. In this menu the Get loose pieces... option has been replaced with a Get unsolved pieces sub-menu. Now you can choose to select all unsolved pieces, or all unsolved edge pieces, or all unsolved middle pieces, or all unsolved fun pieces. An unsolved piece is one that is not joined to another piece nor correctly positioned on the background ghost.·
Arranging. The Sort by Shape option now takes into account the jigsaw piece tabs (tabs pointing in or pointing out) when you arrange pieces using the Arrange in Grid or Arrange at Edge tools. Now pieces with similar tab configurations will line up next to each other.·
Gift creation screen. A button has been added to the Save as gift... screen that will copy the font, background color and alignment settings from the introduction message to the ending message.·
Status bar. Live stats can be seen while completing a jigsaw. To see them, hover the mouse over the Solved n of n portion of the status bar and you will see the percentage of the jigsaw solved plus the solving rate in pieces per minute.·
Jigsaw popup picture. You can now resize the overlay jigsaw picture by dragging the top, bottom and sides as well as the corners. It will retain the correct proportions of the picture.·
A new Internet menu Check for program updates... has been added to see if a newer version of the game or patch is available.·
The jigsaw creator name field now remembers the last-used name.·
The jigsaw creator filename is automatically filled in with part of the title you have chosen.·
A bar graph (instead of text) on the status line display progress when opening a jigsaw.·
Printing a jigsaw. The printout now just consists of the pieces on a plain background color. The background gradient effect, ghost and toolbars are temporarily turned off for the printout. To revert to printing the display as seen on the screen, uncheck the box marked Printing/Clear background in the Options/ Advanced/ Misc menu.·
Tray background color. An option has been added to set the background color of new trays to the current background color. This option is in the Options/ Advanced/ Display menu and is on by default.·
The main window caption now includes the currently open file name.Bug fixes:
·
Fixed a bug causing piece tabs to break off and get lost and holes to appear between intricate outlines.·
Reduced overlap of pieces on tray borders when using Arrange at Edge and Arrange in Grid.·
Rotating a piece in a tray no longer stops it being included in the Arrange tools.·
When playing jigsaws from a CD or a folder without write privilege, displayed folders are correctly restored when switching between Open a jigsaw and Resume a jigsaw.(Again, many thanks to all our jigsaw fans who provided many of these suggestions and bug reports.)
